VMware vCenter Server 5.0 Update 1a released

Today vCenter Server: la 5.0 update 1a was released.

This release is the first major update of vCenter Server Appliance 5.0 since it was released.

VMware vCenter Server 5.0 Update 1a is a patch release and offers some new features and bugfix.

New features:

• support for Oracle 11g R2 (11.2.0.3) database, 32bit and 64bit
• the DB2 express embedded database provided with the vCenter Appliance has been replaced with VMware vPostgres database.

Main bugfix:

• vCenter Server Web services might consume all the memory assigned to it: fixed in this release
• HA fail to restart a VM
