EMCWorld news: ScaleIO now available for free!

I have always been a big fan of distributed storage and of virtual storage appliance and when I saw about a year ago ScaleIO, I quickly started to learn about it and follow its growth.

ScaleIO is a software defined storage solution that turns local disks in a shared block storage. ScaleIO is composed by two components: a server component (called SDS) that is able to consume any HDD, SDD, PCI Flash you give it and a client component (called SDC) that is able to communicate with any number of SDS across network (ethernet or infiniband) via a proprietary protocol.

ScaleIO supports vSphere, KVM, Hyper-V, Openstack, Linux, Windows and is able to scale to hundreds of nodes.

Starting May 29th, ScaleIO will be available for free with community support! It will be available for download qere
